After graduating in 2010 in the University of Oregon, Anna Steeves-Reece chose to take on a challenge that was very different.

By joining the Peace Corps she achieved her goal.

Steeves Reece served from 2011 to 2014 in Nicaragua while she works on a double master’s plan, and she is the Peace Corps recruiter in the state of Arizona.

Tucson resident Renate Schulz, PhD, is additionally an RPCV, but she’s been within her Peace Corps experiences to three states.

Schulz served from 1963 to 1965 in Nigeria.

Decades later, after retiring in the University of Arizona, the 71-year old grandma went back to her Peace Corps origins by taking on an assignment in Mali.

Nevertheless, the service of Schulz was cut short as a result of political coup in the year 2012. The other volunteers and she needed to be evacuated in the West African country.

Schulz lately released a novel about her experiences, “Life in Alien Territory: Memories of Peace Corps Service in Mali” and it’s also available in downloadable audiobooks.

It’s being held from 11 am to 2 pm.

Considering that the Peace Corps was set up by President John F. Kennedy in 1961, more than 200,000 Americans have functioned in 140 nations around the world.
